Comparison · Call tracking
CallRail vs CallTrackingMetrics (CTM)
The short answer
Both attribute calls, texts and forms to the ad, keyword and page that produced them using dynamic number insertion, and both record, transcribe and analyse calls with AI. CallRail publishes flat monthly plans built around lead tracking and conversation analysis for small businesses and agencies. CallTrackingMetrics (now branded CTM) leans further into the contact centre, with skill-based routing, a softphone, call scoring and AI voice agents. Marketing-led teams that mainly need attribution tend to look at CallRail; teams that also run a sales or support call floor look at CTM.

When CallRail fits better
- You are a local business or an agency and the question is which campaigns make the phone ring.
- You want a published plan ladder: Lead Tracking, then form tracking, then conversation intelligence.
- Account managers, not a contact-centre lead, will own the tool.
When CTM fits better
- A team of agents answers inbound calls and needs queues, skill-based routing and a softphone in the same system as attribution.
- You want to score and coach calls, not only tag their source.
- You expect to put an AI voice agent in front of the queue.
Switching or running a trial
Both platforms port numbers, but porting takes days and a gap in tracking is easy to miss. Run the trial on a fresh pool of numbers for one campaign, keep your main listed number untouched, and compare how each one sends qualified calls back to Google Ads. Whichever you choose, keep your real number in your Google Business Profile and citations; only the visitor-facing number on the site should be swapped.

- How much does CallRail cost?
- CallRail's pricing page listed the Lead Tracking plan at 50 per month with 5 numbers and 250 minutes, plus usage, in October 2026, with Lead Conversion at 150 per month. The page did not state the currency next to those figures, so confirm it at checkout.
