Privacy policy

Effective 19 October 2026

Analytics1.com is published by Silicon Valley Ventures (“we”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the site, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. A site about analytics should be precise about its own, so this page tries to be.

Summary

  • Since 18 October 2026 we use Google Analytics 4 to count which pages are read. In the EU, the UK and Switzerland it does not load until you agree; elsewhere it runs unless you decline. Advertising features are off. We run no advertising scripts.
  • We collect personal information only when you send us a form (contact, agency introductions, newsletter signup) or buy a featured placement, plus the request data every web server processes.
  • We do not sell personal information or rent lists, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. An agency request is passed to up to three agencies only because you ask us to.

What we collect

Contact form. Your name, email address, the topic you choose, your message and the page you sent it from. We also check the form was not sent by a bot (see Cloudflare Turnstile below).

Agency introductions. On find an agency: your name, email, business name, website, country, budget, timing and description of the job. With the consent you give on that form, we email it to up to three agencies we choose for the job so they can contact you. An agency may pay us a flat referral fee if you hire it. Because you direct the disclosure, it is not a “sale” under the CCPA.

Newsletter. Your email address, the date you signed up and confirmed, and which issues were delivered or opened, held by Brevo. You join only after pressing the confirmation link we send, and every issue has an unsubscribe link.

Featured placements (vendors). If you buy a placement: your name, business email, company website and the copy you submit, stored in our database, and payment details handled by Stripe (we never see card numbers).

Server and security logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and our network provider (Cloudflare) process each request, including your IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. These logs are kept for short periods under those providers’ own retention settings.

Analytics. When Google Analytics is allowed to run (see Analytics and cookies), it records the pages you view, how you arrived (referrer and campaign tags), approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and interactions such as scrolls and outbound clicks, against a random identifier stored in a cookie.

Calculators. The UTM builder and the other calculators run in your browser. Inputs are stored in the page address (after the # sign) so you can share a result; that part of the address is not sent to our servers.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your message and deal with what you asked (our legitimate interest in answering readers, or steps you asked us to take).
  • To keep the site and the form secure and free of spam and abuse.
  • To understand which pages and tools readers use, so we can improve them (with your consent where the law requires it, otherwise our legitimate interest, which you can refuse with Decline).
  • To meet legal obligations, such as responding to privacy requests.

Who processes it for us

  • Twilio SendGrid delivers contact and agency-request messages to our inbox and sends placement emails.
  • Brevo (Sendinblue SAS) holds the newsletter list and sends the confirmation email and issues.
  • Stripe processes payments for featured placements.
  • Neon hosts the database that holds featured-placement orders. No reader data is stored in it.
  • Cloudflare provides network services and Turnstile, a bot check on the contact form. Turnstile processes technical signals from your browser, such as IP address and device characteristics, to tell people from bots.
  • Vercel hosts the site and runs the contact form endpoint. It also tells the site, from the country of your IP address, whether to apply the EU, UK and Swiss consent rules; that answer is not stored.
  • Google (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited) provides Google Analytics 4 and processes analytics data as our processor.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and may process it outside your state or country, including in the United States.

How long we keep it

Contact form messages and agency requests are not stored in a database. They live in our email inbox only, for as long as needed to deal with your message and keep a reasonable record of the correspondence, after which we delete them. Server logs are kept by our providers for short periods for security. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Featured-placement orders are kept as business and tax records.

Analytics and cookies

Until 18 October 2026 this site ran no analytics, and this page said so. On that date we added Google Analytics 4, configured as follows:

  • EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland: Google’s script is not requested at all until you choose Agree (Google’s “basic” consent mode). We decide this in your browser from your time zone and from the country of your IP address; if either looks European, or the check fails, you get the consent-first behaviour.
  • Elsewhere: analytics runs by default and the notice lets you Decline.
  • Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as Decline unless you have chosen Agree on this site.
  • Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, so the data is not used for advertising. The contact page and the form endpoint never load analytics.
  • You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer. Declining stops the script and deletes its cookies.

Cookies set when analytics runs:

CookieSet byPurposeLasts
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes visitors with a random identifier2 years
_ga_LP1YRWN0VFGoogle AnalyticsKeeps session state for this site’s analytics property2 years

We also store your consent choice (a1.consent.analytics) and, if you pick the light theme, that preference (a1.theme) in your browser’s local storage. Neither is sent to us. Google’s own use of the data is described in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Affiliate links

Links marked “Visit” are affiliate links that pass through an address starting /go/ on this site and redirect to the merchant, often through an affiliate network such as PartnerStack, Awin or CJ. After you click, the merchant or network may set its own cookies to record the referral, under its own privacy policy. We receive reports of commissions and aggregate click and sale data, not your name or contact details. See the affiliate disclosure.

Your US state privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including California (CCPA as amended by the CPRA) and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:

  • know and access the personal information we hold about you;
  • delete it;
  • correct it;
  • opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, and of targeted advertising;
  • not be discriminated against for using these rights.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising: Google Analytics runs with advertising features off and acts as our processor. We honour Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out request all the same, and on this site a GPC signal also switches analytics off (see above). We do not use personal information to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

In the past 12 months the categories we collected were identifiers (name, email address, IP address), internet activity (server request logs and, where allowed, Google Analytics data about pages viewed) and the content of messages you sent us, from you and your browser, for the purposes above, disclosed only to the processors listed.

How to make a request

Use the contact form and choose “A privacy request”. Tell us what you would like us to do. We may ask for information to confirm the request is yours, and we will respond within the time the law allows (45 days under the CCPA). You can use an authorised agent; we may ask for proof of their authority. If we decline a request, you can ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.

Visitors outside the US

If UK or EU data protection law applies to you, you also have the rights to object, to restrict processing and to data portability, and you can complain to your data protection authority. Contact us first and we will try to resolve it.

Children

This site is written for businesses. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them (COPPA). If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and say what changed. On 18 October 2026 we added Google Analytics 4 with the consent controls described above; before that date the site ran no analytics.
