SurveyMonkey alternatives: 6 options compared
The short answer
People look past SurveyMonkey when team plans with a minimum seat count cost more than a small team needs, when they want surveys inside a website or product rather than by link, or when a free form builder would do. Google Forms and Tally are free, Typeform suits polished one-question-at-a-time forms, Survicate suits website and in-product feedback, Jotform suits forms with payments, and Qualtrics suits enterprise research.

Why people switch from SurveyMonkey
- Seat minimums. In October 2026 SurveyMonkey's Team Advantage plan was priced per user with a minimum of 3 users, billed annually.
- Where the survey runs. SurveyMonkey is built around link and email surveys. Product and website feedback is better served by tools designed for on-site and in-app targeting.
- Simple needs. Many small surveys need no analysis beyond counts and a spreadsheet.
What to check before switching
- Response limits on the free or entry plan, and whether exports are allowed on it.
- Question logic you rely on (branching, piping, quotas).
- Where responses are stored, if you survey EU or UK residents.
- Whether you need a respondent panel. SurveyMonkey sells one; most alternatives do not.

Migration notes
- Export past responses (CSV or XLSX) before downgrading; free plans may hide older data.
- Keep question wording identical for trend questions such as NPS, or the new scores are not comparable with the old ones.
- Check your sample size: a change of a few points is often noise. Use the survey sample size calculator and the NPS calculator.
