Best email marketing tools for analytics and deliverability (2026)

By the editors of Analytics1.comLast reviewed 19 October 2026

The short answer

Small businesses on a budget can start with Sender, whose free plan covers 2,500 subscribers, or Brevo. GetResponse and Mailchimp add automation, landing pages and fuller reporting; ecommerce stores usually look at Klaviyo for revenue attribution per email. Reporting tells you nothing if mail lands in spam, so pair any platform with list verification (Bouncer), Google Postmaster Tools and, if needed, a deliverability service such as InboxAlly.

Analytics1 Score result

#1 email marketing tools for analytics and deliverability, by the Analytics1 Score: Mailchimp (90.4/100)

  1. #2 Sender 88.4
  2. #3 Brevo 86

Scored from vendors’ own published pages with fixed weights; partner and sponsor status are not inputs. How the score works.

How to choose

  • Click and conversion reporting over opens. Apple Mail Privacy Protection pre-loads images, so open rates overstate real opens. Judge campaigns on clicks and on conversions in GA4 or your store.
  • UTM tagging. Automatic UTM parameters on every link make email visible as its own channel in GA4.
  • Revenue attribution if you sell online: orders tied to the email that drove them.
  • Deliverability tooling: authentication help (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), bounce and complaint handling, list hygiene.
  • Pricing basis: by subscribers or by emails sent. Model it on your list in a year.

The metrics themselves are explained in email marketing metrics. The email list growth calculator shows whether your list is growing net of unsubscribes and bounces.

The ranking

Ranked by the Analytics1 Score, from evidence read on each vendor’s own site on 19 October 2026. Affiliate partners and sponsors are scored by the same rules as everyone else: being a partner or buying a placement has no effect on a score or a position. We have not tested these products in a live account.

    Klaviyo

    Not yet scored

Best for: ecommerce stores that want revenue reporting per email and flow

Email and SMS built around ecommerce data, with deep Shopify integration and revenue attribution by campaign and flow.

Why this tool is not yet scored

We could not confirm enough on the vendor’s own pages to score it: a score needs core-job evidence, a pricing fact and at least three of the other five criteria. It is listed so you can still consider it. Vendors can send documentation through the contact form.

Reading email reports honestly

  • Treat open rate as a rough deliverability check, not a performance metric.
  • Click rate and click-to-open rate compare campaigns; conversions compare email with other channels.
  • A bounce rate above about 2% or complaints approaching Google's 0.3% threshold need fixing before anything else.
  • Watch unsubscribes per campaign: a spike means a mismatch between promise and content.
Google and Yahoo require bulk senders to authenticate with SPF and DKIM, publish a DMARC policy, offer one-click unsubscribe and keep spam complaints below 0.3%. Not legal advice; CAN-SPAM, GDPR and PECR also apply to marketing email.

Comparisons: GetResponse vs Mailchimp, Sender vs Mailchimp, Bouncer vs ZeroBounce and Mailchimp alternatives. Sending cold email is a different job: see the best cold email software.

Questions

Why are email open rates unreliable?
Apple Mail Privacy Protection, introduced in 2021, pre-loads email images, including tracking pixels, for users who enable it, so many emails register as opened whether or not they were read. Clicks and conversions are more reliable measures.
What is a good email bounce rate?
Keep hard bounces well under 2%. Higher rates hurt sender reputation; verify old or purchased-from-events lists before sending, and remove hard bounces immediately.
