Best ecommerce analytics tools for Shopify and Amazon sellers (2026)
The short answer
Start with your platform's own reports (Shopify Analytics) and GA4; together they cover sales, channels and funnels for most stores. Amazon and Walmart sellers need a marketplace tool such as DataHawk. Stores spending heavily on Meta and Google ads often add an attribution tool such as Triple Whale, and Synder gets clean sales, fee and refund data into your accounting so profit, not revenue, is what you measure.

How to choose
| Question | Where the answer lives |
|---|---|
| What did we sell, and what is our margin? | Store reports plus accounting (fees, refunds, cost of goods) |
| Which channels bring buyers? | GA4 with UTM-tagged campaigns; store's own channel reports |
| Are our ads profitable? | Ad platforms, cross-checked with an attribution tool and your break-even ROAS |
| How are we doing on Amazon? | Seller Central plus a marketplace analytics tool |
Before buying anything, work out your break-even ROAS. It is the single number that tells you whether an ad report is good news.
The ranking
Ranked by the Analytics1 Score, from evidence read on each vendor’s own site on 19 October 2026. Affiliate partners and sponsors are scored by the same rules as everyone else: being a partner or buying a placement has no effect on a score or a position. Why the numbers will not match
Shopify, GA4 and Meta Ads will each report a different number of purchases. Consent banners, ad blockers, attribution windows and view-through credit all differ. The store is the record of orders; ad platforms and GA4 are evidence about where they came from. Read why GA4 numbers don't match and analytics for Shopify stores.
Set-up: GA4 ecommerce tracking. Amazon: Amazon seller analytics. Category hub: ecommerce analytics.

Questions
- Is Shopify Analytics enough for a small store?
- For sales, orders and product performance, usually yes. Add GA4 with UTM-tagged campaigns to see which channels and campaigns bring buyers, and track margin in your accounts rather than revenue alone.
- Why does Meta report more sales than Shopify?
- Meta counts conversions within its attribution window, including some after a view rather than a click, and models conversions it cannot observe. Shopify counts orders. Several channels can claim the same order, so ad platform totals often add up to more than the store's sales.
